This new programme, based on their existing National Training Award-winning programme, means that managers can complete the Diploma which provides a key route to the Certificate in Veterinary Practice Management (CVPM) in eight months in time for entry for the CVPM examination in the autumn of 2012.
The course provides a combination of intensive workshops and guided home study, and for a limited period grants of up to £1000 are available towards the fees in certain circumstances for some practices in England.
Fiona Stuart-Wilson, Director of UMD Professional said. ‘A number of managers who have studied with us have gone on to achieve the CVPM, and we believe that this new programme will allow more people to be able to complete both qualifications in a shorter time frame. In addition, managers who successfully complete the level 5 Diploma course can build on their qualification with further distance learning study at our partner university to achieve a BA (Hons.) in Professional Studies.’

UMD Professional launches new modular approach to management qualifications
UMD Professional has launched an innovative new approach to gaining a management qualification for practice managers and DCPs. The nationally recognised Institute of Leadership and Management Certificates and Diplomas in Management can now be studied in modular format to allow for the greatest possible flexibility over when each module is studied, and giving the students greater control over their studying.
With this approach managers and DCPs can choose to study individual modules and gain a management qualification through a building block approach.
‘We know that managers and DCPs are becoming increasingly busy and that it can be difficult to fit studying over an extended period of time around work commitments and family life,’ said Fiona Stuart-Wilson of UMD Professional Ltd. ‘We decided to introduce this modular route to gaining a respected management qualification to provide greater accessibility and to allow people to be able to study at their own pace. With more managers and DCPs funding their own training, it also has the advantage of making the qualifications more affordable as each module is studied on a ‘pay as you go’ basis.’’
More information on the modular programmes is available from Fiona Stuart-Wilson on 020 8255 2070 or contact her by e-mail.
